Vancouver's Island Retreat - Bowen Island
Bowen Island feels like it's light years away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Vancouver. With the ambiance of a friendly country town, visitors are rewarded with serene hikes in the rainforest, cute cafés and artisan studios that beg for you to spend your afternoon browsing. The island's many B&Bs make it a great place for an overnight retreat as well. But Bowen is no far-flung isle - visitors can be sitting in a Snug Cove bakery sipping a latte just 20 minutes after leaving the city!
Getting to Bowen Island has never been easier. Granville Island Water Taxi has started a direct service to the island, leaving from Granville Island 15 times per day. Tickets are $15 CAD one way, or $25 CAD return ($12/21 USD). BC Ferries also offers 15 scheduled crossings each day from their Horseshoe Bay terminal in West Vancouver. Walk-on passengers can take public transit to the terminal, but visitors taking their car over to Bowen can also travel on the ferry. Tickets are $9.10 CAD per adult return, and $25.55 CAD per vehicle ($7.50/$21 USD)
